What is Water Pump Control Valve

Dec 29, 2025 Leave a message

A water pump control valve is a valve controlled by water pressure. It consists of a main valve and its associated conduits, pilot valves, needle valves, ball valves, and pressure gauges. Depending on the intended use, function, and location, it can be further categorized into remote-controlled float valves, pressure-reducing valves, slow-closing check valves, flow control valves, pressure relief valves, hydraulic-electric control valves, and water pump control valves. These valves should generally be installed horizontally in pipelines.

Working Principle and Function of Valves:

1. The function of a valve is to convert the mechanical energy of a prime mover into the energy of a fluid, thereby changing the direction or magnitude of fluid flow (i.e., pressure).

2. Manual water pressure valves are operated by a handle. When the handle is rotated to the closed position, the valve is opened, and the medium flows from the inlet to the outlet. At this time, a negative pressure zone is formed at the inlet, causing the liquid in the pipeline to be drawn towards the outlet and flow out of the pipeline; conversely, the opposite occurs.

3. The number of rotations of the handwheel indicates the degree of valve opening, and various angle values such as 10°, 20°, and 240° are generally available for selection.

4. Electric valves commonly used in industrial production operate by using an electromagnet to drive a coil, which generates a magnetic field that drives the actuator.

Valve Classification and Specifications:

1. Based on application, valves can be classified into three types: check valves, safety valves, and one-way valves.

2. Based on sealing surface material, valves are mainly classified into cast iron body valves and cast steel body valves.

3. Based on connection type, valves are mainly classified into flange connections and wafer connections.

4. Based on material, valves are suitable for various corrosive and non-corrosive media.

5. Based on function, valves can be further subdivided into shut-off valves such as knife valves, diaphragm valves, and piston valves; and drainage valves such as needle valves, air release valves, and mud discharge valves.

6. Based on the temperature of the application environment, valves can be classified into three categories: low-temperature valves, high-temperature valves, and valves for normal temperature applications.

Common Valve Performance Indicators:

1. Nominal diameter DN50~600mm

2. Operating temperature ≤120 °C

3. Rated test pressure 1.6 MPa

4. Maximum allowable load on the shell and pipeline is 100kg

5. 6. Maximum design overload capacity: 150%

7. Applicable to a wide variety of media.

8. Primarily applicable to water vapor.
