What is the problem with swing check valves?

The main problems of swing check valve
1. Poor sealing performance
The sealing is not as good as that of lift check valves when closed, and is prone to minor leakage, which affects the efficiency of the system.
The sealing effect is affected by the material, process and degree of wear, and the risk of leakage increases after long-term use.
2. Structural complexity and maintenance problems
Complex internal structure, there are more moving parts (such as valve flap, rocker), easy to be blocked by dirt, impurities or wear.
Maintenance costs are high, and the sealing surface and moving parts need to be checked regularly for wear and tear.
3. Restricted applicable media
Not applicable to solid particles or high viscosity media (such as mud, viscous liquid), easy to cause valve clogging or accelerated wear.
4. Fluid dynamics problems
Flow resistance: valve swing on the fluid resistance, may lead to increased pressure drop.
Noise and impact: high-pressure, high-speed flow conditions, the valve is easy to produce noise and water hammer effect when the flap is closed, need to install damping devices or slow-closing design.
5. Installation and working condition restrictions
Sensitive to the installation direction, need to be installed strictly according to the medium flow direction, otherwise it may fail.
High or low temperature extreme environments require special materials or structural improvements, otherwise the sealing performance is further reduced.
Summary
Swing check valve is widely used in one-way flow, but its sealing, dirt resistance and the limitations of the applicable range of media so that it is not enough in the precision leakage prevention or complex conditions.
