What is a swing check valve for?
Swing check valve is a medium flow pressure through the automatic opening and closing of the valve, mainly used to prevent backflow of media, protect the safety of equipment, and reduce the reverse flow of fluids due to system failure.
Specific application scenarios
Industrial piping system
In the petroleum, chemical, electric power and other industrial fields, used in pipelines to prevent the reverse flow of media, to avoid pumps, compressors and other equipment damaged due to backflow.
Suitable for large-diameter pipelines (e.g., single-valve design), but the adaptability to pulsating fluids is weak.
Water Systems and Pumping Devices
Serves as a foot valve for pumping units to prevent backflow of water and ensure unidirectional water supply.
In water supply and drainage systems to reduce the water hammer effect and protect the pipeline and valve structure.
High temperature and pressure and special media environment
Clamped double-flap swing check valves can withstand extreme temperatures ranging from -196℃ to 540℃, and are suitable for petrochemical, metallurgical and other high-temperature or low-temperature media scenarios.
Enhanced sealing by metal valve seat or auxiliary spring, adapted to corrosive liquids or high-purity media (such as nitric acid, oxygen).
Combined safety isolation
Used in conjunction with globe valves, gate valves, etc. to form double isolation and enhance system safety.
Performance characteristics and limitations
Advantage:
Low flow resistance, suitable for large flow and large diameter pipelines.
Simple structure, low maintenance cost.
Limitations:
The valve flap is easy to wear or water hammer effect due to the impact force when closing, need to add a damping device or adopt a slow closing design.
Sealing is slightly inferior to lift check valve, not applicable to high-precision anti-leakage scenarios.
Summary
Swing check valve through the one-way flow control to protect the safe operation of pipeline systems, widely used in energy, chemical industry, water conservancy and other fields, especially in the large diameter, high temperature and high pressure or corrosive media scenarios. Its design needs to be combined with specific conditions (such as fluid characteristics, pressure and temperature range) to optimise the selection, in order to balance performance and reliability.
