What is the difference between DBB and DIB ball valves?
1. Functions
DBB Ball Valve:
Double Blocking: The core function of the DBB ball valve is to provide two sealing surfaces within a single valve, forming a double blocking effect, effectively preventing the flow of media on both sides of the valve.
Drainage Function: The DBB ball valve has a drainage port in the cavity between the two sealing surfaces, allowing the discharge of any fluid or gas that may accumulate, preventing pressure buildup due to thermal expansion or chemical changes.
DIB Ball Valve:
Double Isolation: The DIB ball valve also has two sealing surfaces, but its design focuses more on providing independent double isolation, ensuring that even if one sealing surface fails, the other sealing surface remains effectively isolated.
Enhanced Isolation and Drainage: In addition to double isolation, the DIB ball valve also has a drainage function, but its design is often more complex to provide higher isolation safety and reliability.
2. Sealing Design
DBB Ball Valve: Typically employs a two relatively simple sealing surface design, each operating independently, but may share some structural elements.
DIB Ball Valves: The sealing surface design is more complex, potentially including a self-draining design to ensure the cleanliness of the contact surface between the sealing surface and the ball, reducing the risk of leakage. The two sealing surfaces are structurally more independent to minimize mutual interference.
3. Applications
DBB Ball Valves: Suitable for applications requiring dual shut-off and discharge functions, such as segmented isolation of piping systems and fluid discharge during maintenance.
DIB Ball Valves: More suitable for applications with extremely high isolation safety requirements, such as handling hazardous fluids, high-pressure systems, or applications requiring highly reliable isolation.
4. Safety and Reliability
DBB Ball Valves: Provide basic dual shut-off and discharge functions, but their reliability may be somewhat affected under extreme conditions, such as high pressure or high temperature.
DIB Ball Valves: Offer higher isolation safety and reliability through a more complex sealing design and structural independence, especially when handling hazardous or high-pressure fluids.
