Pneumatic stainless steel gate valves mainly consist of a stainless steel flanged gate valve and a pneumatic actuator. The valve body, cover, gate, and stem are all made of stainless steel. The valve seat sealing surface can be made of PTFE, stainless steel, or hard alloy. The packing is generally made of hard alloy, PTFE, asbestos graphite, or flexible graphite. The opening and closing element of a stainless steel pneumatic gate valve is the gate. The gate's movement direction is perpendicular to the fluid direction.
Gate valves can only be fully open or fully closed; they cannot be used for regulation or throttling. The gate has two sealing surfaces. In commonly used gate valves, the two sealing surfaces form a wedge shape, and the wedge angle varies depending on the valve parameters. The gate of a wedge gate valve can be made as a single piece, called a rigid gate; or it can be made as a gate that can produce slight deformation to improve its manufacturability and compensate for deviations in the sealing surface angle during processing. This type of gate is called a flexible gate.
