Pneumatic knife gate valves Working Principle
Pneumatic knife gate valves utilize compressed air to drive a piston in a pneumatic actuator, which in turn rotates or lifts a torsion shaft to actuate the valve stem. Pneumatic valves are classified into three types: single-acting, double-acting, and intelligent regulating.
Single-acting pneumatic actuators use a spring-driven piston structure with two operating principles: open and normally closed (air-to-open or air-to-close). When no gas enters, the spring pushes the piston to close the valve (normally closed). When gas enters the cylinder, the valve closes; when gas supply is cut off, the spring drives the piston to open the valve (open). When purchasing, care should be taken to avoid valves where the spring has been compressed for an extended period and lost its function.
Double-acting valves operate on an air-to-open/air-to-close principle. Double-acting pneumatic valves require a 2-position 5-way solenoid valve. When gas enters through port A, it drives the piston to rotate and close the valve. Gas to open the valve enters through port B, simultaneously disconnecting port A, causing the piston to rotate and open the valve.
