High pressure plug valve Description
High pressure plug valve is a special ≥ PN4.0MPa (Class 300) above the high-pressure working conditions of the rotary cut-off valve, the core of which is to rotate the conical or cylindrical plug body to control the medium on and off.
Structural Features
Reinforced valve body design
Integral forged carbon steel/alloy steel valve body (e.g. WC6, CF8M), wall thickness increased by 30% compared with standard valve body, pressure-bearing capacity up to PN16.0MPa (Class 900).
Inverted mounted balanced seal
The plug is installed upside down, and the bottom balance hole introduces medium pressure, which pushes the plug close to the valve seat to form a self-reinforcing seal, and the sealing specific pressure is >6.0MPa.
Carbide sealing surface
Plug surface supersonic spraying tungsten carbide (hardness HRC65+) or nickel-phosphorus alloy plating (HRC58-60), resistant to solid particles contained in the washout.
Oil lubrication system
Integrated grease injection channel, regular injection of sealing grease to fill the sealing gap, blocking the penetration of corrosive media and reducing the friction torque.
High pressure plug valve Description
- Valve body material:
Class 300 and above must be forged carbon steel (A105) or alloy steel (WC6/F22);
Corrosive media need Austenitic stainless steel (CF8M/316L).
- Seal type:
High-pressure conditions mandatory metal hard seal (tungsten carbide / Stellite alloy surfacing);
Seal surface hardness requirements ≥ HRC58.
- Connection type:
Flange connection: the implementation of ANSIB16.5 standard (RF/RTJ sealing surface);
Butt welding connection: the implementation of ANSIB16.25 standard (DN ≥ 50 high-pressure pipeline.).
- Soft seal model: limited to Class 300 or below, temperature -29℃~180℃ (PTFE valve seat);
- Hard seal type: covering full pressure class, temperature -29℃~550℃ (nickel-based alloy valve seat).

Applications
Oil and gas extraction
For use in sulphur-containing oil and gas wellhead installations (Class 600) to achieve emergency cut-off at pressures >15 MPa with a response time of <3 seconds.
Oil refining and chemical industry
Control of high-temperature and high-pressure reactors in hydrocracking plants (temperature 425°C/pressure PN 16.0 MPa), regulating the flow of hydrogen-oil mixtures.
Long-distance pipeline
Main line cut-off valve (DN600/Class 600), withstand water hammer impact pressure>10MPa, to prevent pipeline rupture accidents.
Power energy
Supercritical unit steam trap system (temperature 540℃), hard seal structure to avoid high temperature steam leakage.
Advantages
Extreme working condition adaptability
The hard seal structure is resistant to high temperature of 425℃ and high pressure of PN16.0MPa, far exceeding the limit of common plug valve (PN2.5MPa/180℃).
Zero leakage security
Metal seal + grease filling to achieve ANSI B16.104 Class VI zero leakage, suitable for toxic and flammable media (such as hydrogen sulfide).
Long scour resistance life
Tungsten carbide coated plugs in sandy media life>100,000 times opening and closing, more than 5 times that of soft seal valves.
Low maintenance costs
The grease injection system can be maintained online, no need to dismantle the valve after the sealing vice is worn, replenishing the sealing grease can restore the performance.
