API 599 Plug Valve Description
API 599 plug valve is a metal plug valve manufactured in accordance with the American Petroleum Institute (API) standard 599, which is specially used in pipeline systems with high pressure and harsh working conditions.
Structural features
Valve body design
Inverted oil seal structure : an oil groove is set between the valve body and the sealing surface, and sealing grease is injected through the oil nozzle to enhance the sealing (suitable for high pressure conditions); Pressure balance design : the inverted structure reduces the operating torque and is easier to open and close; Full-bore flow channel : reduce flow resistance and support the passage of pipeline sweepers.
Sealing system
Metal + soft seal combination : the valve plug surface is hard chrome plated (wear-resistant), and the fluororubber/PTFE sealing ring is used to achieve two-way zero leakage; Self-cleaning function : the metal lip scrapes the valve cavity when the plug rotates to prevent the accumulation of particles.

Material requirements
Body/bonnet: cast steel (WCB/WCC), stainless steel (CF8/CF8M), alloy steel (WC6/WC9) or ductile iron;
Plug: surface hard chrome plating or hardening treatment (hardness ≥HRC60);
Sealing system: must be compatible with grease (oil seal type) or corrosion-resistant metal (non-oil seal type)
Inspection and testing
Required inspection items:
Shell strength test (1.5 times nominal pressure);
High-pressure sealing test (1.1 times nominal pressure, leakage ≤ISO 5208 F grade);
Low-pressure sealing test (0.6 MPa).
Additional requirements:
Fire test (according to API 607);
Sulfur corrosion resistance verification (NACE MR0175).
Marking specifications
Valves must be permanently marked: nominal diameter (NPS), pressure rating (Class), material code, manufacturer logo, API 599 certification mark.
