Tapered Plug Valve Description
1. Basic structure and principle
Conical sealing pair design
The plug and valve body of the tapered plug valve are both precisely matched cones, with common tapers of 1:6 or 1:7. The flow channel can be opened or closed by rotating the plug to fit or separate it from the tapered hole surface of the valve body.
Seal adjustment mechanism
Under low-pressure conditions, the plug can be pressed into the valve seat to reduce the leakage gap; under high pressure, the pressure is dispersed by the contact of the cone surface to ensure the reliability of the seal.
2. Main types
Fixed tapered plug valve
The structure is simple, consisting only of a valve body, a plug and a fastening nut. The plug is pulled down by tightening the nut to press the sealing surface, which is suitable for low-pressure scenarios.
No packing is required, but high-precision processing (surface roughness and taper matching) is required to achieve sealing.
Packed tapered plug valve
Add a packing layer between the plug and the valve body to enhance the sealing performance and adapt to a wider range of media types.
The typical structure includes valve body, plug, packing and gland, which is easy to operate and has low maintenance cost.

Core functions
Cut off or connect the fluid : quickly open and close the flow channel by rotating the plug 90°. Flow direction control : three-way or four-way structure can distribute or switch the flow direction of the medium . Performance advantages
Low flow resistance : straight-through flow channel design reduces the flow resistance of the medium . Fast opening and closing : the operation can be completed by rotating 90°, with high efficiency . Limitations
Temperature limitation : usually suitable for medium and low temperature environments, high temperature steam media is not recommended . Medium limitation : media with too high viscosity may cause sealing surface obstruction .
