What Is A Triple Offset Butterfly Valve

Mar 27, 2024 Leave a message

  • Three eccentric butterfly valve structure features:

Valve plate rotary centre (i.e. valve shaft centre) in the valve plate sealing section to form an A offset, and with the valve body centre to form a b offset; valve body sealing surface centre line and the valve seat centre line (i.e. valve body centre line) to form an angle of β angular offset. In order to overcome this contradiction in the double eccentric butterfly valve, a third eccentricity is carried out for the butterfly valve. Its structural characteristics are in the double eccentric stem axis position eccentric at the same time, so that the butterfly plate sealing surface of the conical axis oblique to the body cylindrical axis, that is to say, after the third eccentric, the butterfly plate sealing section is no longer a true circle, but an ellipse, the shape of the sealing surface is also asymmetric, one side tilted at the body centre line, and the other side is parallel to the body centre line.

  • Application of Triple Eccentric Butterfly Valve

Triple Eccentric Butterfly Valves are widely used in various industries due to their unique design features:
Oil and Gas: These valves are used in pipelines to regulate the flow of crude oil, natural gas and refined products. Their ability to handle high pressure and high temperature conditions makes them suitable for demanding environments.
Power generation: Triple eccentric butterfly valves are commonly used in power plants to control the flow of steam and other fluids in boiler systems, cooling water circuits and fuel supply lines.
Chemical and petrochemical: Chemical processing plants use valves to manage the flow of corrosive fluids. The third eccentric design minimises wear and prevents leakage, ensuring safety and efficiency.
WATER TREATMENT: In water treatment plants, these valves regulate the flow of water and chemicals, providing precise control and airtight shutoff.
Marine: Triple eccentric butterfly valves are used in the shipbuilding industry for a variety of applications including ballast systems, cooling systems and fuel lines.
Mining: The mining process involves the transport of abrasives and slurries. These valves can withstand the wear and tear associated with such applications.

  • Advantages of Triple Eccentric Butterfly Valves

Tight seal: The third eccentric design ensures a tight seal even under high pressure conditions, minimising the risk of leakage.
Low friction: the triple eccentric design reduces friction during valve operation, extending valve life and reducing maintenance requirements.
High Temperature and High Pressure Capability: These valves can cope with extreme conditions, making them suitable for use in industries such as oil, gas and power generation.
Bi-directional flow: the triple eccentric butterfly valves have a bi-directional closing function, providing flexibility in flow direction.
Compact design: The compact design and right-angle slewing operation of this valve make it suitable for applications where space is limited.
