I. Globe Valves
- Definition and function
Globe valve is a commonly used type of valve, its opening and closing parts (valve flap) along the centre line of the valve seat to move, used to cut off or regulate the flow of media. It can be completely open or closed, can also be partially open to regulate the flow of media. Globe valve belongs to the mandatory sealing valve, in the valve closed, must be applied to the system pressure to completely prevent the flow of media.
- Structure and characteristics
The structure of globe valve usually includes valve body, valve cover, valve stem, valve flap and other components. The valve flap moves up and down along the centre line of the valve seat, and the lifting and lowering of the valve flap is controlled by rotating the valve stem, so as to open or close the valve. The sealing surface of valve flap and valve seat of globe valve is surfaced with iron-based alloy or Stellite cobalt-based cemented carbide, which has the features of wear-resistant, high-temperature-resistant, corrosion-resistant, good anti-scratch performance and long service life.

Globe valves are mainly used to cut off or regulate the flow of medium in ship pipeline system.
2. Check Valve
- Definition and function
Check Valve (Check Valve) is a kind of rely on the flow of the medium itself and automatically open and close the valve, used to prevent the medium backflow. It usually only allows the medium to flow in one direction, and in the other direction is automatically closed to prevent the medium backflow. Check valve, also known as check valve, check valve, backflow valve, and back pressure valve, belongs to the automatic valve class. Its main role is to prevent the medium from flowing backwards, to prevent the pump and drive motor reversal, as well as the container medium discharge.

Check valve structure is relatively simple, usually consists of a valve body and a valve flap. Valve flap can be spherical, disc-shaped or conical, when the medium flow direction changes, the valve flap will be pushed by the pressure of the medium and closed.

Check valve in the ship pipeline system, mainly used in water supply pipelines, sewage treatment systems and other need to prevent the backflow of media occasions.
3. Globe Check Valve

Globe Check Valve is a kind of multi-purpose valve with the functions of both stop valve and check valve. Its structure is similar to the stop valve, but the valve stem and valve is not a fixed connection. When the valve stem is lowered and the valve flap is tightly pressed on the valve seat, it acts as a globe valve; after the valve stem rises, it acts as a check valve.
- Features and advantages
Globe check valve combines the advantages of globe valve and check valve, can cut off or regulate the flow of the medium, but also to prevent the medium backflow. In the need to install both globe valves and check valves on the pipeline (such as the outlet end of the pump), the use of globe check valves can save installation costs and space location.
- Applications
Globe check valve in the ship is generally installed in the horizontal pipeline, especially installed in the location of the site is restricted.
