Three-Piece Ball Valve is a type of valve where the closing member is a ball that rotates around the valve body's centerline to achieve opening and closing. In pipeline systems, it is primarily used for cutting off, distributing, and changing the flow direction of the medium.
Working Principle
The operation is achieved by rotating the valve body. When the handwheel is turned counterclockwise, the valve stem moves downward. The bottom angular plane of the stem disengages the ball from the seat. As the stem continues to move, it interacts with the guide pin in the spiral groove, causing the ball to rotate frictionlessly until it reaches the fully open position.
To close the valve, the handwheel is turned clockwise, rotating both the stem and the ball by 90° until the ball is tightly pressed against the seat, achieving a complete seal.
