The pneumatic wafer rubber-lined butterfly valve is an automated valve combining pneumatic actuation with rubber lining for corrosion protection. It uses compressed air to drive the butterfly plate to rotate, thus opening, closing, and regulating pipeline media. It is widely used in industries such as chemical, water treatment, power, and food processing.

Pneumatic Wafer Rubber Lined Butterfly Valve Structural Features
- Pneumatic Drive: A pneumatic actuator (such as a double-acting or single-acting cylinder) drives the valve stem to rotate, causing the butterfly plate to rotate 0°~90° within the valve body, achieving rapid opening and closing and flow regulation. The pneumatic actuator offers fast response, high control precision, and supports remote automated operation.
- Clamp-on Connection: The valve body has no flanges at either end and is directly clamped between two pipe flanges using double-ended bolts. The installation space is only 1/3 that of a flanged valve, saving space and making installation convenient. It is suitable for retrofitting old pipelines or space-constrained scenarios.
- Rubber Lining Process: The inner wall of the valve body, the surface of the valve plate, and the valve seat area are lined with rubber material (such as EPDM, NBR, FKM, etc.), which is bonded to the valve body through high-temperature vulcanization, effectively isolating the medium from the metal valve body and improving corrosion resistance and service life. The rubber lining thickness is generally 3~5mm, bubble-free and seamless, with a Shore hardness requirement of 60~70, balancing wear resistance and elasticity.
- Butterfly Valve Structure: The butterfly plate is disc-shaped and installed along the pipe diameter. It features a simple structure, small size, and light weight, consisting of only a few parts. The butterfly plate frame structure reduces flow resistance and improves flow control characteristics.
Pneumatic Wafer Rubber Lined Butterfly Valve Performance Advantages
- Fast Response: Driven by a pneumatic actuator, the switching speed is 0.5~2 seconds, suitable for high-frequency operation and emergency shut-off conditions.
- High Corrosion Resistance: The rubber lining can withstand various corrosive media, such as acids, alkalis, and salts, making it suitable for harsh conditions in industries such as chemical engineering and water treatment.
- Excellent Sealing Performance: Utilizing a soft-seal structure, the sealing surface has excellent wear resistance, achieving bidirectional zero-leakage sealing and preventing media leakage. The rubber sealing ring has seven times the wear resistance of copper, and the seals are replaceable, reducing maintenance costs.
- Easy Operation: Pneumatic drive makes valve opening and closing easier and faster, supporting remote control and automated operation, improving operational convenience and accuracy.
- Convenient Maintenance: Simple and compact structure, easy maintenance, and can be disassembled and reassembled on-site. The wafer-type design facilitates quick disassembly, reducing maintenance costs by 40%.
- High adaptability: Suitable for various media and operating conditions, such as high temperature, high pressure, and corrosive media. Valve body materials include ductile iron, carbon steel, or stainless steel; the rubber lining material can be selected according to media characteristics to meet different operating requirements.
- Flexible flow regulation: The butterfly plate rotation angle can be precisely controlled to achieve flow regulation, suitable for applications requiring precise flow control.
- Explosion-proof safety: Pneumatically driven with no electrical sparks, suitable for flammable and explosive environments, such as the petroleum and chemical industries.
Applications of pneumatic wafer rubber lined butterfly valve:
- Chemical industry: Used for conveying and controlling various corrosive media, such as sulfuric acid and hydrochloric acid. The rubber lining can withstand strong acids and alkalis, ensuring long-term stable valve operation.
- Water treatment industry: Used for flow regulation and media isolation in urban water supply networks, sewage treatment plants, etc. For example, for flow control in urban water supply networks and media isolation and regulation in sewage treatment plants.
- Power Industry: Used to control cooling water flow and ensure safe equipment operation. In power plant cooling circulating water systems and flue gas desulfurization units, it can transport corrosive liquids and prevent valve corrosion failure.
- Food and Pharmaceutical Industry: Used for the transport and isolation of food-grade liquids in pipelines and the transport of corrosive solvents in pharmaceutical production processes. The rubber lining material is non-toxic and harmless, ensuring safety during food production.
- Other Industries: Such as mining and metallurgy (switch control in ore slurry pipelines in ore dressing plants, discharge and transport of corrosive waste liquids in smelters), marine and shipbuilding (control of media in seawater cooling systems, valves in ship ballast water systems), and specialty gases (pipeline control of corrosive gases in chemical plants or laboratories), etc.
