What is pneumatic ptfe lined butterfly valve

Jan 22, 2026 Leave a message

The pneumatic PTFE-lined butterfly valve is an automated control valve combining a pneumatic actuator and fluoroplastic lining technology. It is specifically designed for applications requiring highly corrosive media, rapid response, and remote operation. It uses compressed air to drive the valve plate to rotate, achieving media cutoff or regulation. It is widely used in automated process control in chemical, pharmaceutical, and environmental protection industries.

GNEE PTFE-lined valves utilize a lining process throughout the valve body, with lining materials typically including FEP (F46), PTFE (F4), PCTFE (F3), PO, FRPP, and other fluoroplastics. They are widely applicable in pipelines for petroleum, chemical, dye, pesticide, acid and alkali production industries, and other corrosive media. However, fluoroplastic-lined valves are subject to significant temperature limitations. Our company offers fluoroplastic-lined butterfly valves and fluoroplastic-lined ball valves, Contact us for a list of PTFE line valves.

Pneumatic PTFE-lined butterfly valve: Structure and working principle

Pneumatic actuator: Employs a double-acting or single-acting (spring return) cylinder, delivering high torque via gear transmission to drive the butterfly plate to rotate 90° for opening and closing. Large-diameter valves utilize a fork-type transmission, featuring a rational structure and high output torque.

Butterfly valve body:

Valve body and butterfly plate: The entire surface is covered with fluoroplastics (such as PTFE, FEP). The valve stem uses a fully plastic-coated process to isolate media contact, ensuring corrosion resistance.

Sealing structure: A four-stage sealing design (butterfly plate radial seal + axial compression seal + valve stem packing seal + flange gasket seal), combined with a high-temperature resistant SI rubber and PTFE composite valve seat, achieving zero leakage. Some models employ a double eccentric design to reduce wear.

Drive method: Supports manual, electric, and pneumatic drive modes. Pneumatic actuators can be equipped with electrical signal feedback indicators and accessories to achieve automated operation.

Performance advantages of pneumatic PTFE-lined butterfly valve:

  • Strong corrosion resistance: The fluoroplastic lining can withstand corrosive media such as strong acids (e.g., sulfuric acid, hydrochloric acid), strong alkalis, and organic solvents, making it suitable for a wide range of media.
  • Excellent sealing performance: The four-level sealing structure ensures zero leakage, meets the ANSI B16.104 Class VI standard, and is suitable for applications with strict leakage requirements.
  • Easy to operate: The pneumatic drive has low torque, the 90° rotation opens quickly, the opening and closing torque is reduced by more than 60%, and the energy consumption of the pneumatic device is reduced by 40%.
  • Excellent flow regulation performance: The flow characteristics are nearly linear, and the regulation performance is excellent, making it suitable for scenarios that require precise flow control.
  • Compact structure: weight reduced by 30%~50%, installation space requirement is only 1/3 of that of gate valves of the same specification, making it easy to arrange in limited spaces.
  • Long service life: The all-plastic valve seat design eliminates the risk of electrochemical corrosion, and it can maintain zero leakage even after more than 50,000 pressurized opening and closing cycles, increasing the service life by 3 to 5 times.

Applications of Pneumatic PTFE-lined Butterfly Valve:

  • Chemical Industry: Used for raw material conveying, reactor inlet and outlet control, and handling strong acids such as hydrochloric acid and sulfuric acid, as well as organic solvents.
  • Oil & Gas Industry: Meets the needs of offshore oil platforms and shale gas extraction, controlling the flow and pressure of oil, gas, and water.
  • Power Industry: Suitable for thermal power plant circulating water systems, chemical water treatment systems, and hydropower inlets and outlets.
  • New Energy Industry: Used in wind power generation cooling systems and photovoltaic power generation energy storage systems to control fluid transport and regulation.
  • Biopharmaceutical Industry: Transports high-purity raw materials, intermediates, and finished products, preventing media contamination and ensuring drug quality.
  • Electronics & Information Industry: Controls the transport of high-purity gases and chemical reagents in semiconductor manufacturing, meeting high cleanliness and low leakage requirements.
  • Food & Beverage Industry: Used in beverage bottling, food processing, and packaging, meeting food-grade hygiene requirements.
  • Environmental Protection Industry: Controls flow and direction in wastewater treatment plant wastewater transport and exhaust gas treatment systems, adapting to corrosive components.
