A pneumatic V-ball valve is an industrial valve that controls the flow rate of a medium by rotating a V-notch ball driven by a pneumatic actuator. It evolved from a gate valve. This valve features a right-angle rotary structure and is available in floating, fixed, and resilient types. The valve core and seat are sealed with metal or metal-to-PTFE seals.
It supports double-acting/single-acting pneumatic modes, and a positioner can be used for proportional control. Its V-notch design provides precise flow control and shearing capabilities, making it suitable for controlling media containing fibers, solid particles, and high viscosity.

Pneumatic v-ball valve Working Principle
The working principle of a pneumatic V-type ball valve is relatively simple and effective. When the pneumatic actuator receives a control signal, it drives the valve stem up and down via air pressure, causing the ball to rotate inside the valve body, thereby controlling the flow of the medium. Under normal circumstances, when the pneumatic actuator receives a close signal, the air pressure pushes the valve stem downward, and the ball rotates to the top of the valve seat, stopping the flow of the medium; conversely, when the pneumatic actuator receives an open signal, the air pressure pushes the valve stem upward, and the ball rotates to the bottom of the valve seat, allowing the flow of the medium.
Pneumatic v-ball valve Features and Advantages
- Low Fluid Resistance: The fluid resistance coefficient of the pneumatic V-type ball valve is equal to that of a pipe section of the same length, resulting in very low resistance when fluid flows through.
- Simple Structure: The pneumatic V-type ball valve has a relatively simple structure, is small in size and lightweight, and is easy to operate and maintain.
- Reliable Sealing: The sealing surface material of the pneumatic V-type ball valve widely uses plastics and other materials with good sealing properties, which are also widely used in vacuum systems, ensuring reliable sealing.
- Easy to operate: Pneumatic V-type ball valves open and close quickly, requiring only a 90° rotation to go from fully open to fully closed, facilitating remote control.
- Easy to maintain: Pneumatic V-type ball valves have a simple structure, and the sealing rings are generally movable, making disassembly and replacement convenient.
- Wide range of applications: Pneumatic V-type ball valves have a wide range of diameters, from a few millimeters to several meters, and can be used in high vacuum and high pressure applications.
Pneumatic v-ball valve Applications
Due to their unique advantages, pneumatic V-type ball valves are widely used in many industrial fields, including:
- Chemical industry: Used for the control of liquids and gases.
- Petroleum industry: Used for the control of oil, natural gas, and other media.
- Food industry: Made of high-quality stainless steel and other materials, meeting food hygiene standards, suitable for use in the food industry.
- Pharmaceutical industry: Used for the control of pharmaceuticals, intermediates, and other media.
- Power industry: Used for the control of water, steam, and other media.
