Manual Wafer Knife Gate Valve Structural Design
- Gate: Typically made of carbon steel or stainless steel, shaped like a knife with a sharp edge to effectively cut and scrape away fibers, particles, and other impurities in the medium. The gate can be a rigid, integral structure or a flexible gate capable of slight deformation to adapt to different sealing requirements.
- Valve Body: Generally made of stainless steel, carbon steel, or gray cast iron. The clip-on design allows the valve to be directly clamped between two flanges of the pipeline during installation and secured with bolts. The structure is compact and occupies little space.
- Stem: Mostly made of stainless steel, it connects to the gate. Manual operation drives the stem up and down, controlling the opening and closing of the gate. The stem surface is precision-machined to ensure sealing performance with the packing and provides good wear and corrosion resistance.
- Sealing Surface: Sealing surface materials typically include rubber, PTFE, stainless steel, and hard alloys. Appropriate sealing materials are selected based on different media and operating conditions to ensure the valve's sealing performance and service life.
Manual Wafer Knife Gate Valve Working Principle:
The opening and closing element of a manual wafer knife gate valve is a gate, whose movement direction is perpendicular to the fluid direction. Rotating the manual operating handle moves the valve stem up and down, thus controlling the raising and lowering of the gate. When the gate rises, the valve opens, allowing the medium to flow through the valve passage; when the gate falls, it seals tightly against the valve seat, preventing medium flow. Knife gate valves can only be fully open or fully closed; they cannot be used for regulation or throttling.
Manual Wafer Knife Gate Valve Performance Characteristics
- Strong Cutting Capacity: The knife gate can easily cut through fibers and particles in the medium, making it suitable for pipeline systems containing slurries, sewage, coal slurries, and other media containing solid particles and fibrous materials.
- Good Sealing Performance: Utilizing various sealing materials and structural designs, it ensures excellent sealing performance when the valve is closed, effectively preventing media leakage.
- Low Flow Resistance: The fully circular direct-flow channel design minimizes flow resistance as the medium passes through the valve, reducing energy loss and improving the operating efficiency of the pipeline system.
- Compact Structure: The wafer-type connection results in a small, lightweight valve that is easy to install, saving installation space and costs.
- Easy Maintenance: The relatively simple structure allows for easy disassembly and replacement of parts, resulting in low maintenance costs.
Applications of Manual Wafer Knife Gate Valve
- Paper Industry: Used for conveying and controlling media such as pulp and papermaking wastewater. The shut-off function of the knife gate valve effectively prevents fiber entanglement and ensures unobstructed pipeline flow.
- Chemical Industry: Suitable for pipeline systems handling various chemical slurries, wastewater, and corrosive media, such as sulfuric acid, hydrochloric acid, and sodium hydroxide.
- Mining Industry: In mining processes such as slurry conveying and tailings treatment, it can be used to control the flow of slurry, wastewater, and other media to prevent blockages and leaks.
- Wastewater Treatment: Whether for industrial or municipal wastewater treatment, the manual wafer-type knife gate valve can be used to shut off wastewater pipelines, facilitating equipment inspection and maintenance.
- Food and beverage industry: Used for conveying media such as food slurry and beverages, meeting hygiene requirements, while its good sealing performance can prevent media leakage and pollution.
