Manual Wafer Knife Gate Valve Structural Design

  • Gate: Typically made of carbon steel or stainless steel, shaped like a knife with a sharp edge to effectively cut and scrape away fibers, particles, and other impurities in the medium. The gate can be a rigid, integral structure or a flexible gate capable of slight deformation to adapt to different sealing requirements.
  • Valve Body: Generally made of stainless steel, carbon steel, or gray cast iron. The clip-on design allows the valve to be directly clamped between two flanges of the pipeline during installation and secured with bolts. The structure is compact and occupies little space.
  • Stem: Mostly made of stainless steel, it connects to the gate. Manual operation drives the stem up and down, controlling the opening and closing of the gate. The stem surface is precision-machined to ensure sealing performance with the packing and provides good wear and corrosion resistance.
  • Sealing Surface: Sealing surface materials typically include rubber, PTFE, stainless steel, and hard alloys. Appropriate sealing materials are selected based on different media and operating conditions to ensure the valve's sealing performance and service life.

 

Manual Wafer Knife Gate Valve Working Principle:

The opening and closing element of a manual wafer knife gate valve is a gate, whose movement direction is perpendicular to the fluid direction. Rotating the manual operating handle moves the valve stem up and down, thus controlling the raising and lowering of the gate. When the gate rises, the valve opens, allowing the medium to flow through the valve passage; when the gate falls, it seals tightly against the valve seat, preventing medium flow. Knife gate valves can only be fully open or fully closed; they cannot be used for regulation or throttling.
