Is there a difference between a gas ball valve and a water ball valve?
Yes.
I. Applications of Natural Gas Ball Valves and Water Ball Valves
Both natural gas ball valves and water ball valves are types of valves. Water ball valves are used to control the inlet and outlet of tap water and are generally used on household water pipes; while natural gas ball valves are used to control the flow of combustible gases such as compressed natural gas and are generally used on natural gas pipelines or gas appliances.
II. Structure of Natural Gas Ball Valves and Water Ball Valves
Although natural gas ball valves and water ball valves look similar, their internal structures differ. Natural gas ball valves require special safety functions to prevent liquid or flame jetting, thus ensuring the safe transportation and use of natural gas. Water ball valves do not require this function.
III. Differences in Materials Required for Natural Gas Ball Valves and Water Ball Valves
Due to the flammability and explosiveness of natural gas, natural gas ball valves require corrosion-resistant, high-temperature-resistant, and corrosion-resistant materials, such as stainless steel and copper; water ball valves do not require these special materials.
IV. Installation Location of Natural Gas Ball Valves and Water Ball Valves When installing natural gas ball valves, they should be placed as far away from heat sources as possible and hung in a position higher than the heat source to prevent liquefied gas leaks from being directly heated and causing accidents. Water ball valves are generally installed at the point of use of tap water.
