What is the difference between API 600 and API 603?

API 603 Corrosion-Resistant Bolted-Goblin Gate Valves - Flanged and Weld-on Ends. This standard covers corrosion-resistant bolted-goblin gate valves with flanged or weld-on ends, sizes NPS 1/2 to 24, corresponding to nominal pipe sizes in ASME B36.10M, and classes 150, 300, and 600, as specified in ASME B16.34.

The API 600 standard sets forth clear requirements for the materials, design, manufacture, and testing of gate valves. This standard applies to valve products in the oil, gas, and related industries, ensuring their safety and durability under harsh operating conditions.

Feature API 603 API 600
Main valve body types Casting(如CF8M) Forging, casting
Flange thickness thin flange(Class 150) thick flange
Surface to surface dimensions longer long
Structural features wafer type, integrated valve cover, highly corrosion resistant Mode gate valve, bolted valve cover
Core Applications Corrosive media, space-constrained environments In situations requiring tight shut-off, such as high pressure, high temperature, and main oil and gas pipelines.
