Common faults and solutions for V-ball valves

Aug 20, 2024 Leave a message

The following common failures and corresponding solutions may occur in the actual use of V-ball valves:

1. Leakage problems

Cause: Worn seals, valve not fully closed, sealing surface damage or improper installation.

Solution: Replace worn seals, make sure the valve is closed in place, repair or replace damaged valve seats, install in strict accordance with the manufacturer's recommendations, and make sure that the valve seats fit tightly with the ball.

2. Inflexible operation or jamming

Reason: accumulation of internal impurities, insufficient lubrication, worn or rusted parts.

Solution: Thoroughly clean the impurities in the valve cavity, regularly maintain and replenish the appropriate lubricant, inspect and replace worn parts, and descale the rusted parts.

3. Valve stem leakage:

Cause: Worn or damaged stem packing seal.

Solution: Replace the sealing ring in the stem packing box or adjust the packing box gland to ensure that the packing is properly pressed to prevent leakage and to ensure that the stem rotates flexibly.

4. V-ball and valve seat wear

Reason: After a long time of use, the sealing performance between the V-ball and the valve seat decreases due to abrasion.

Solution: Grind and repair or replace the V-ball and valve seat with new ones to ensure that they are well matched and achieve the ideal sealing effect.

5. Failure of electric or pneumatic actuator

Reason: The power indicator does not light up, there is no feedback from the service board, the actuator does not move after power on or it can only be opened but not closed, and other electrical or pneumatic system failures.

Solution: Check the power supply line, repair or replace the service board, confirm whether the power supply and control signal of the actuator are normal, and check whether there is any damage or failure of the internal components of the actuator.

6. Plugging failure

Cause: Impurities or scale build-up inside the valve.

Solution: Disassemble and clean the inside of the valve to remove the blockage, and if necessary, chemically clean the valve cavity or use physical methods to remove scale.
