A351 CF8M Floating Ball Valve features a ball that is not supported by a fixed shaft but instead rests solely on two valve seats. The stem is dynamically connected to the ball, allowing it to remain in a floating state. Under medium pressure, the ball can shift slightly and press tightly against the sealing surface at the outlet end, ensuring reliable sealing performance.
When the handle (or other actuation device) rotates the stem, the ball rotates freely between the two valve seats. When the ball's passage aligns with the valve body's channel, the valve opens, allowing fluid flow. When the ball rotates 90°, the ball's passage becomes perpendicular to the valve body's channel, closing the valve. At this point, the ball is pushed against the outlet-side valve seat by fluid pressure, achieving a tight seal.
