Manual Gate Valves

‌Manual gate valve‌ is a valve that controls the flow of fluid by manual operation. Its opening and closing parts are gates. The movement direction of the gate is perpendicular to the direction of the fluid. It can only achieve full opening or full closing of the medium and cannot be used for flow regulation or throttling.

Core structure and components
‌Main components‌:
‌Valve body‌: The main structure that accommodates the fluid channel. The material must be adapted to the medium characteristics.
‌Gate: It is divided into rigid gate (integral casting) and elastic gate (slightly deformable). Some models adopt a double gate parallel design to enhance sealing.
‌Sealing surface‌:
‌Metal seal: such as surfacing carbide (Stellite 6), resistant to high temperature and particle erosion.
‌Non-metal seal: such as polytetrafluoroethylene (PTFE), suitable for clean fluids.
‌Drive device‌: Handwheel, valve stem and valve stem nut, which drives the gate to rise and fall by rotating the handwheel.

Working principle
‌Opening and closing process‌:
‌Open‌: Turn the handwheel clockwise, the valve stem drives the gate to rise vertically, completely out of the flow channel, and form an unobstructed channel‌.
‌Close‌: Turn the handwheel counterclockwise, the gate is pressed down to fit tightly with the valve seat to achieve sealing cutoff‌.
‌Sealing mechanism‌:
‌Wedge seal‌: The gate forms a wedge angle (usually 50°) with the valve seat, and the medium pressure assists in enhancing the sealing effect‌.
‌Elastic compensation‌: The elastic gate can be slightly deformed to compensate for processing errors or wear and maintain sealing reliability‌.
