API 594 Check Valves

API 594 is a special standard for check valves developed by the American Petroleum Institute (API). Its full name is "Check Valves: Wafer, Wafer-Lug and Double Flanged". The latest version is the 5th edition (November 1997). This standard specifies the design, manufacturing and testing requirements of check valves, covering three types of structures: wafer, wafer-lug and double flange. It is widely used in media backflow control in industrial pipelines such as petroleum, chemical, and power.

Structural type and core features ‌ ‌

Wafer check valve ‌ ‌ ‌

Ultra-thin design ‌ ‌: The valve body thickness is significantly lower than that of traditional flange check valves, suitable for pipeline systems with limited space; ‌ ‌

Wafer installation ‌ ‌: It is directly clamped between the pipeline flanges by bolts, without the need for additional connectors, and is easy to install.

Wafer-Lug Check Valve‌

‌Lug structure‌: There are threaded holes on both sides of the valve body, which supports independent installation and fixation, avoiding direct transmission of pipeline stress to the valve body and improving stability.
‌Double Flanged Check Valve‌

‌Flange connection‌: There are standard flanges on both ends, which are suitable for high-pressure large-diameter pipelines (such as DN50~DN1500) and have better sealing performance.

Applications
‌Petrochemical Industry‌:

Prevent medium backflow when transporting crude oil and natural gas, and avoid damage to the pump unit due to backflow impact;
Adapt to sulfur-containing and highly corrosive media (such as nitric acid and acetic acid), and corrosion-resistant alloy materials must be selected.
‌Energy and Power‌:

Block high-temperature and high-pressure steam backflow in steam pipelines to protect boilers and turbine equipment;
Resist chloride ion corrosion in seawater desalination devices to extend valve service life.
‌Special working conditions‌:

Clean medium environment (not suitable for fluids containing solid particles or high viscosity) to prevent wear on the sealing surface
