lever operated ball valve Description
Lever-type ball valves are a type of ball valve in which the opening and closing of the valve is controlled by means of a lever mechanism, and its core design combines the principles of lever mechanics with the sealing characteristics of a ball valve. Although the search results do not explicitly mention 'lever-type ball valves,' an analysis of the mechanical structure of 'lever float traps' suggests that the lever mechanism can be analogously applied to the operation of ball valves.
Typical Structural Features:
Lever Drive Assembly:
A stainless steel lever is used to connect the valve stem, and the operating torque is amplified through a pivot point, reducing the intensity of manual operation (similar to the lever float structure of a trap);
Some models are fitted with a gearbox to further reduce the operating force (handwheel torque can be reduced to 1/5 that of an ordinary ball valve).
Sealing System:
Metal hard seal (Stellite alloy or Inconel 718) withstands temperatures up to 450°C, suitable for high temperature media such as steam;
Double packing design (flexible graphite + spring loaded) to ensure dynamic sealing performance, leakage rate ≤ ISO 5208 Rate A.
Working Principle
Power transmission:
Manual or actuator-driven lever, through the pivot point to amplify the input force, drive the valve stem to rotate 90 ° to achieve the ball opening and closing;
Some models are equipped with a float sensing device to automatically adjust the valve opening according to the media level (refer to trap design).
Extreme working conditions adaptable:
Fully welded valve body for buried or high pressure environments (Class 600), with corrosion-resistant coating to enhance service life;
For low-temperature conditions (e.g., LNG storage and transport), the valve stem is insulated with a vacuum jacket to avoid icing and stalling.

Applications
Steam network systems:
Controls steam flow and automatically discharges condensate (refer to Float Trap for trap function);
Pressure resistance up to PN40, temperature range -29℃~450℃.
Chemical process control:
Suitable for corrosive media (e.g. sulphur-containing oil and gas), with Monel or Hastelloy stem material;
Fire protection design in line with API 607 standards, to protect the safety of extreme working conditions.
Selection and use of norms
Selection parameters:
Nominal diameter: DN50-DN600 (special requirements can be customised to DN1200);
Connection: flange (ANSI B16.5), thread (NPT/BSP) or butt-welding end.
Installation requirements:
The valve stem needs to be kept vertical or tilted ≤15° to avoid uneven distribution of grease leading to jamming;
A sealing test of 1.5 times the working pressure is required before first commissioning.
