When to use a wafer check valve

  • Pipelines with restricted space and need for compact installation

Narrow space: the structure length is only 1/4~1/8 of the traditional flange check valve, suitable for occasions with small pipeline spacing and limited installation space (e.g., equipment-intensive areas or renovation projects).

Lightweight demand: light weight, low pipeline support requirements, suitable for suspended or light support pipelines.

  • Cost-sensitive and medium clean low and medium pressure system

Economy priority: low manufacturing cost, suitable for projects with limited budget.

Low-pressure clean media:

For working pressure ≤ 4.0MPa, temperature -29 ℃ ~ 425 ℃ of water, steam, oil and other clean fluids;

Containing trace particles of media need to choose wear-resistant seals (such as surfacing carbide or rubber lining).

  • The specific media and working conditions

Corrosive media: optional duplex steel, Hastelloy and other corrosion-resistant materials for chemical, environmental protection field of acid and alkali solutions.

Vertical pipeline: rotary opening butt-clamp valve can be used for vertical pipeline with bottom-up flow direction, relying on medium gravity and pressure to close.

  • Typical applications in the industry

Municipal engineering: water supply and drainage network backflow prevention;

Industrial system: pump outlet protection in petroleum, chemical and metallurgical industries;

Construction field: High-rise building water supply system to prevent backflow.

  • Precautions for use

Avoid media with high solid content: impurities can easily lead to valve jamming or seal failure;

Control of sudden changes in flow rate: high-flow rate systems need to assess the risk of water hammer, if necessary, select the slow-closing type;

Large calibre Limitations: DN>600mm requires special design, economy may be reduced.

  • Summary

Priority for the selection of butt check valve scene: compact space, limited budget, clean medium, low-pressure pipeline (such as municipal water supply and drainage, chemical corrosive fluids); avoid the use of a large number of solid particles, large diameter (DN>600) or the sealing requirements are very high! Avoid using in the working condition which contains a lot of solid particles, oversized calibre (DN>600) or very high requirements for sealing.
