V-ball valve is a special structure of the ball valve, its core feature is that the ball core with a V-shaped cut, by rotating the valve core to change the relative position of the V-shaped port and the valve seat to achieve precise adjustment of the flow rate. The following is its detailed analysis:
The core structure design
V-shaped ball core
The V-shaped notch is processed on one side of the spool, and the notch and the valve seat form a changing flow cross-section when rotating, so as to achieve continuous flow adjustment from closed to fully open range.
V-shaped design gives the valve a strong shear force, can cut off fibres, particles impurities, to avoid jamming (such as paper mill pulp, sewage solids).
Sealing structure
Hard seal: metal valve seat (such as tungsten carbide coating) is resistant to high temperature and scouring, and the leakage level reaches GB/T 4213 Class IV;
Soft seal: PTFE valve seat realises zero leakage (GB/T 4213 V-VI class), but with lower temperature resistance.
Some models adopt double sealing: soft sealing in normal working condition and emergency sealing with metal valve seat in abnormal condition.
Core performance characteristics
| Features | Instructions | Application Advantages |
|---|---|---|
| High precision adjustment | Flow characteristics approximate equal percentage, adjustable ratio up to 300:1 (ordinary ball valve only 30:1) | For precise control of small to large flows |
| Anti-blocking performance | The V-port rotates with a shearing action, and the self-cleaning valve seat and flow channel | Handles slurries containing fibres and particles without clogging |
| Low flow resistance and high flow rate | Streamline flow path design, flow capacity is 20%-50% higher than ordinary valves | Reduced energy consumption and improved conveying efficiency |
| Rapid opening and closing | Angular stroke 90° rotation, with pneumatic actuator response time ≤ 0.5 seconds | For quick cut-off or high-frequency regulation |
The typical application scene
Solid-containing media control: paper mill pulp, black liquor, sewage treatment plant sludge, chemical suspension;
High viscosity fluids: petroleum heavy oil, adhesives, paints;
Severe conditions: high temperature steam (hard seal up to 450 ℃), corrosive acids and alkalis (ceramic spool)
The key difference between O-type ball valves
| Features | V-Ball Valve | O-ring ball valve |
|---|---|---|
| Spool structure | 1/4 Hemisphere with V-Notch, Single Seat Seal | Global body round flow path, dual seat seal |
| Core functionality | Regulating flow + anti-clogging | Quick cut-off (switch-controlled) |
| Applicable medium | Slurries containing fibres/particles, high viscosity fluids | Clean gases, liquids |
Drive and selection points
Actuator: pneumatic (piston thrust, fast response film type), electric (precision positioning);
Selection key:
Containing hard particles select hard seal + flange connection (such as VQ647H-16C);
Corrosive media with ceramic spool + Viton seal (such as VQ667F46-16P)
