What is the angle globe valve

Angle globe valve is a forced sealing valve with inlet and outlet flanges at a right angle of 90 degrees. Its opening and closing parts are plug-shaped valve discs. The valve stem drives the valve disc to move vertically along the center line of the fluid to achieve opening and closing control. It is forbidden to be used for flow regulation.

The inlet and outlet angle of the valve body is fixed at 90 degrees, which is suitable for installation at the corner of the pipeline, saving space and simplifying the pipeline layout.

Common connection forms include flanges (in accordance with national standards GB, American standards ANSI and other standards), welding and threaded connections.

‌Valve disc and valve seat‌: The sealing surface is designed as a plane or a cone, and the valve disc is forced to press the valve seat to achieve zero leakage (closing pressure ≥ nominal pressure);
‌Valve stem structure‌: It adopts a lifting rod type (fixed by the handwheel) or a lifting and rotating rod type (the handwheel and the valve stem rotate synchronously), and the valve stem diameter must meet the bending strength requirements;
‌Material selection‌: The valve body is commonly made of cast steel (WCB)‌ and stainless steel (such as 304/316), and the valve seat can be welded with Stellite alloy to improve wear resistance.

‌2. Working principle‌
The valve stem is pressed down by rotating the handwheel or the drive device, so that the valve disc and the valve seat fit closely to cut off the fluid; when opening, the valve disc is lifted in the opposite direction, and the medium flows out from the valve seat channel. Because the flow direction of the medium is changed to enter the valve cavity from the top of the valve disc (self-sealing design), the valve closing operation force can be reduced and the sealing reliability can be enhanced.

3. Typical application scenarios ‌
‌High-pressure fluid control‌: such as Class 1500~2500 high-pressure angle stop valves for oil pipelines, with a pressure tolerance of 42MPa; ‌Corrosive media‌: Angle valve for ammonia (PTFE-lined), acidic medium valve (stainless steel); ‌High-temperature steam system‌: valves for power station boilers, with an operating temperature of 570℃; ‌Space-constrained pipelines‌: Right-angle layout reduces the number of elbows, flow resistance and installation costs.
4. Selection considerations‌ ‌Flow direction requirements‌: Confirm the medium inlet direction (usually above the valve disc) to optimize the sealing performance; ‌Fireproof design‌: API 6FA-certified fire-resistant structures are required for high-risk scenarios; ‌Maintenance convenience‌: Models with online replaceable packings (such as multi-layer graphite packings) are preferred.
