A signal butterfly valve is a butterfly valve with integrated signal feedback function. It realizes the opening and closing of fluid and the regulation of flow by rotating the valve plate, and transmits the valve status (open/closed) to the control system or alarm device in real time.

Signal butterfly valve Structural Components
Valve Body: The main body of the signal butterfly valve, used to fix and support other components. It is typically made of ductile iron, stainless steel, or similar materials, offering good pressure resistance and corrosion resistance.
Valve Plate: A butterfly-shaped valve plate that rotates to change the flow path of the medium, achieving valve opening/closing and flow regulation.
Actuator: Used to drive the valve plate to rotate. Common actuation methods include manual, electric, and hydraulic, with the appropriate method selected based on actual needs.
Signal Device: A key component of the signal butterfly valve, used to monitor the valve status in real time and transmit status signals to the control system or alarm device. Signal transmission is typically achieved through electrical or mechanical means.
Sealing Structure: A crucial part ensuring the valve's sealing performance, including O-rings and sealing rings. High-quality sealing materials and designs ensure no leakage when the valve is closed.
Signal butterfly valve Working Principle
The signal butterfly valve uses a worm gear drive to drive the shaft and butterfly plate to rotate, achieving opening/closing and flow control. Rotating the handwheel of the worm gear drive causes the butterfly plate to open/close and regulate the flow. Clockwise rotation of the handwheel closes the valve, while counter-clockwise rotation opens it.
Two microswitches, one for opening and one for closing, are installed inside the transmission housing. These switches activate when the valve is fully open and closed, respectively, activating the "Valve Open" and "Valve Closed" indicator lights in the control room to accurately display the valve's open/closed status.
When the butterfly plate moves from 0° to 40°, the microswitches activate, outputting a valve-closed signal; from 40° to 90°, another pair of normally closed switches outputs a valve-open signal. The cam that presses against the microswitches can be adjusted to indicate the butterfly plate's position.
Signal butterfly valve Features and Advantages
Small and Lightweight: The signal butterfly valve has a simple and compact structure, is small in size and lightweight, and is easy to install and maintain.
Easy to Operate: The valve plate rotation control is simple and responsive; opening and closing can be achieved with a 90° rotation.
Excellent Sealing Performance: High-quality sealing materials and design ensure excellent valve sealing performance; gas leakage tests show zero leakage.
Good Regulating Performance: The flow characteristics are nearly linear, allowing for precise control of fluid flow. Long service life: With up to tens of thousands of opening and closing tests, it reduces equipment replacement costs.
Flexible installation: It can be installed on pipelines in any location within space, without requiring extensive consideration of installation location limitations.
Signal butterfly valve Applications
Fire Protection Systems: Signal butterfly valves play a crucial role in fire protection systems, preventing accidental closure of maintenance valves located upstream of flow indicators, ensuring the normal operation of the fire protection system in emergencies.
Industrial Automation: In industrial automation, signal butterfly valves can be used to control fluid flow and pressure, achieving stable operation of production processes.
HVAC (Heating, Ventilation, and Air Conditioning): In HVAC systems, signal butterfly valves can be used to regulate the flow of media, achieving comfortable control of the indoor environment.
Petroleum, Chemical, and Food Industries: Signal butterfly valves are also widely used in petroleum, chemical, and food industries to control the flow and pressure of various fluids.
