A PTFE-lined diaphragm valve is a special type of shut-off valve. Its opening and closing element uses a soft diaphragm made of rubber or fluoroplastic to isolate the valve body from the drive components, preventing media corrosion and eliminating the risk of external leakage. This valve is mainly used in chemical and pharmaceutical industries, suitable for low-pressure environments ≤1.6MPa and temperature ranges from -50℃ to +150℃. It can handle corrosive media such as strong acids and strong alkalis, but is not suitable for organic solvents or high-temperature, high-pressure applications.
GNEE Group has been manufacturing PTFE lined diaphragm valves for 18 years, providing valve solutions to more than 150 countries and regions worldwide. Contact us for a valve engineering quote.
PTFE Lined Diaphragm Valve Structure and Principle
Diaphragm Isolation
A soft diaphragm made of rubber or fluoroplastics (such as PTFE, FEP) completely isolates the internal cavity of the valve body from the driving components (such as the valve stem and valve disc). The driving components move the valve stem via compressed air, electricity, or manual operation, causing the diaphragm to rise, fall, or compress, thus opening and closing the flow path and preventing contact between the medium and metal components.
Fluorine Lining Protection
The inner wall and flow path of the valve body are lined with fluoroplastics (such as PTFE, PFA), forming a corrosion-resistant barrier. The fluoroplastic lining layer has a uniform thickness (2-5mm) and is tightly bonded to the substrate, resisting the erosion of strong corrosive media such as hydrochloric acid, sulfuric acid, and nitric acid.
Advantages of PTFE Lined Diaphragm Valve
Strong Corrosion Resistance
Fluoroplastics (such as PTFE) have a wide temperature range (-50℃ to 260℃), resisting almost all strong acids, strong alkalis, organic solvents, and oxidizing media, replacing rare metal valves and reducing procurement costs.
Zero-Leakage Seal
The diaphragm's elastic seal ensures no internal leakage upon closure, while simultaneously isolating the drive components from the medium, preventing external leakage risks. It complies with ISO 9001 quality system requirements and industry explosion-proof certification.
Dead-Angle Flow Channel
The smooth inner wall of the flow channel minimizes media flow resistance, reducing the likelihood of crystallization or particle residue. This facilitates online CIP cleaning and makes it suitable for corrosive slurries containing small amounts of solid particles.
Compact Structure and Easy Maintenance
The stuffing box-less design allows for diaphragm replacement without disassembling the piping; only the valve cover needs to be removed, ensuring safe and convenient operation.
