Motor Operated Valve (MOV for short) is a valve driven by a motor or electromagnet. It is opened and closed or adjusts the flow rate through electric control and is widely used in automated fluid control systems.
1. Basic Structure
Drive Unit
Contains a motor, a reducer and a stroke control module, and supports remote signal reception (such as 4-20mA current signal) to achieve precise adjustment.
Equipped with a torque protection device to prevent the motor from being overloaded and damaged when the valve is stuck.
Valve Body Structure
Adaptable to a variety of valve types, including ball valves, gate valves, butterfly valves, etc., the valve core movement is converted from motor rotation to linear or angular motion.
Seal design Select soft seal (rubber/fluoroplastic) or hard seal (metal cladding) according to the characteristics of the medium.
2. Core Parameters and Performance
| Parameter | Typical range/characteristics |
|---|---|
| Nominal diameter | DN15~DN2000,Covering needs from micro-meters to large pipelines |
| Pressure Level | PN10~PN100(Up to 10MPa),Meet medium and high pressure working conditions |
| Control accuracy | Error ≤±1%, supports proportional regulation and fast switching mode |

3. Typical application areas
Industrial automation: continuous process control of petrochemical and power systems (such as reactor feed adjustment);
Public utilities: remote water supply dispatching of water plants, temperature control valves of HVAC systems;
Special media: interception and regulation of corrosive or high-temperature media such as acid and alkali solutions and steam.
4. Technical advantages and limitations
Advantages:
Support remote/automatic control, reducing manual intervention;
Fast opening and closing speed (butterfly valve fully opened in just a few seconds), suitable for emergency cut-off scenarios.
Limitations:
Depends on stable power supply, backup power supply or manual unlocking device is required in case of power outage;
Complex structure leads to higher maintenance cost than manual valves
