What is a pneumatic ball valve?

A pneumatic ball valve uses compressed air to drive a ball to rotate within the valve body, thus opening or closing the pipeline. When the channel on the ball is aligned with the valve body's inlet and outlet, the valve is open, allowing fluid to flow; when the ball rotates 90 degrees, the channel becomes perpendicular to the valve body's inlet and outlet, closing the valve and cutting off the fluid flow.

Working Principle:

The pneumatic actuator internally includes a cylinder, piston, valve, and control elements, with the cylinder being the core component. The pneumatic actuator receives control signals and converts the energy of compressed air into mechanical kinetic energy, driving the valve stem and the connected ball to rotate.

Classification and Structure:

Classification: Pneumatic ball valves are specifically classified as stainless steel pneumatic ball valves, plastic pneumatic ball valves, sanitary pneumatic ball valves, carbon steel pneumatic ball valves, two-way pneumatic ball valves, three-way pneumatic ball valves, four-way pneumatic ball valves, etc. Based on the ball structure, they can be classified as floating ball, fixed ball, and elastic ball valves.

Structure: A pneumatic ball valve consists of a pneumatic actuator and a ball valve body, connected by a bracket and connecting shaft. A pneumatic ball valve has a central hole in its ball. The ball can be floating, fixed, or elastic. A floating ball, under the pressure of the medium, can shift and press firmly against the sealing surface at the outlet end; a fixed ball does not move under pressure and is usually supported by bearings on its upper and lower shafts; an elastic ball relies on the pressure of the medium itself and external force to achieve a seal.

Features and Advantages

Quick On/Off: Pneumatic ball valves have very fast on/off speeds, with the fastest reaching 0.05 seconds per cycle, hence they are also called pneumatic quick-shutdown ball valves.

Low Fluid Resistance: The resistance coefficient of a pneumatic ball valve is equal to that of a pipe section of the same length, resulting in low resistance during fluid flow and effectively reducing pressure loss during fluid transport.

Simple Structure: Pneumatic ball valves have a compact structure with fewer parts, making them easy to install, maintain, and repair.

Good Sealing Performance: Pneumatic ball valves use metal or rubber seals, providing excellent sealing performance and ensuring long-term stable operation.

Good Sealing Performance: Pneumatic ball valves use metal or rubber seals, providing excellent sealing performance and ensuring long-term stable operation. Wide range of applications: Pneumatic ball valves are suitable for various fluid media such as gases, liquids, and steam, and can work under different temperature and pressure conditions. The diameter range is from a few millimeters to several meters.
