PFA lined ball valve is a special anti-corrosion ball valve that uses perfluoroalkoxy resin (Perfluoroalkoxy) to completely coat the metal valve body and key components. It is designed for ultra-corrosive, ultra-high purity and high temperature conditions. Its core features and applications are as follows:
1. Structure and material properties
Composite lining layer
The surface of the flow-passing parts such as the valve body, ball, and valve seat adopts a 3-6mm thick PFA lining (injection molding or compression molding) to form a non-porous isolation layer to prevent the medium from contacting the metal matrix.
The metal matrix (stainless steel/carbon steel) provides mechanical strength, and the PFA material provides chemical inertness, which can withstand strong corrosive media such as 98% sulfuric acid, hydrofluoric acid, and concentrated hydrochloric acid.
2. Performance Advantages
| Features | Technical parameters/performance | Applicable scenario cases |
|---|---|---|
| Strong corrosion resistance | Resistant to 98% sulfuric acid, hydrofluoric acid, liquid chlorine | Chemical pickling line, electroplating wastewater treatment |
| Ultra-high cleanliness | Surface roughness Ra≤0.1μm (mirror polishing) | Semiconductor Ultrapure Hydrofluoric Acid Delivery |
| Stability over a wide temperature range | -200℃~260℃ continuous working | High temperature concentrated sulfuric acid pipeline (150℃ working condition) |
| Long life | The service life is 3-5 times longer than that of PTFE lined valves | Acetic acid control of PTA unit (not replaced for 8 years) |

3. Typical industry applications
Semiconductor manufacturing
Control ultrapure hydrofluoric acid, etching solution and other media to meet SEMI F57 certification (metal ion precipitation <0.05ppb).
Biopharmaceuticals
Sterile API production line, FDA cGMP certified (surface sterilizable, microbial residue <10CFU/100cm²).
New energy and chemical industry
Lithium battery electrolyte corrosion control (surface resistance 10⁶-10⁸Ω), concentrated sulfuric acid high temperature cut-off valve.
4. Key Differences from PTFE-Lined Ball Valves
| Parameter | PFA Lined Ball Valve | PTFE Lined Ball Valve |
|---|---|---|
| Maximum temperature resistance | 260℃(long term) | 250℃(short term) |
| Surface roughness | Ra≤0.1μm(Injection molding) | Ra≤0.8μm(Compression Sintering) |
| Permeation resistance | The molecular structure is more compact and has excellent hydrofluoric acid resistance | Long-term exposure to hydrofluoric acid may cause swelling and failure |
| Processing Technology | Single injection molding, low risk of contamination | Multi-step sintering, high risk of impurities introduced |
