A two-piece ball valve is a type of ball valve consisting of a ball, stem, cover, and seals. The ball comprises two hemispheres sealed together by a seal. The stem is connected to the ball via the cover, and rotating the stem controls the opening and closing of the ball.

The two-piece ball valve works by controlling the flow of media through the rotation of the ball:
Opening Process: Turning the handwheel counterclockwise or operating the actuator raises the valve stem, causing the ball to disengage from the valve seat and begin rotating until it reaches the fully open position, allowing the media to flow smoothly.
Closing Process: Turning the handwheel clockwise lowers the valve stem, causing the ball to rotate and finally wedge tightly onto the valve seat, achieving a complete seal and preventing the media from passing through.
The opening and closing process involves no friction between the ball and the valve seat, ensuring reliable sealing performance. Operation is simple; a 90-degree rotation is all that is needed to achieve full opening or full closing.
