Function and Purpose
- Relief Valve: It is mainly used to reduce the inlet pressure to the desired outlet pressure and to keep the outlet pressure stable. It regulates the pressure by changing the throttling area and is suitable for systems that require stable pressure output, such as residential water supply and industrial process control.
- Safety Valve: It is mainly used for overpressure protection to prevent equipment damage due to high pressure. It releases pressure by opening and closing the valve flap, and is suitable for equipment requiring overpressure protection, such as boilers, pressure vessels and compressors.
Working Principle
- Relief Valve: It regulates the pressure by changing the throttling area, so that the flow rate and the kinetic energy of the fluid can be changed, resulting in different pressure losses, thus achieving the purpose of pressure reduction.
- Safety valve: release pressure by opening and closing the valve flap, when the medium pressure in the equipment or pipeline rises above the specified value, it opens automatically to release the excessive pressure.

Working condition
- Relief valve: usually in the open state, continuous work, need regular inspection and maintenance to ensure the accuracy of pressure regulation.
- Safety valves: usually in the closed state, only open when the pressure exceeds the set value, requiring regular pressure tests and sealing inspections.
Application Scenarios
- Relief valves: Suitable for systems requiring stable pressure output, such as residential water supply and industrial process control.
- Safety valves: suitable for equipment requiring overpressure protection, such as boilers, pressure vessels, compressors, etc.
