Although the double plate check valve (double flap check valve) has the advantages of fast closing and low flow resistance, it still has the following technical defects and limitations:
- First, structural design and operation and maintenance costs
High component complexity
Double valve flap and spring linkage mechanism increases the number of parts, resulting in manufacturing costs than the traditional lift check valve by about 30%.
Maintenance requires dismantling the spring assembly, which is time-consuming and requires a high degree of professionalism from technicians.
Risk of spring deterioration
Long-term pressure or high-frequency opening and closing will lead to spring elasticity failure, which may lead to delayed closure or poor sealing (especially in high temperature or corrosive media).
The spring needs to be tested and replaced regularly, which increases the operation and maintenance cost.

- Fluid Control Defects
Reverse shock and noise
Valve flap in the high-speed reverse fluid impact will produce metal collision vibration, resulting in pipeline system noise (peak up to 75dB)
Frequent opening and closing may lead to valve hinge shaft wear and shorten service life.
Risk of high-pressure seal failure
In high-pressure fluctuation scenarios (e.g., above 42MPa), the sealing surface of the double flap is susceptible to micro-deformation due to stress concentration, resulting in leakage.
Special alloy materials or enhanced sealing structure are required to compensate for this, which further pushes up the cost.
- Application Scenario Limitations
Medium adaptability limitations
When dealing with high viscosity or solid particles, the valve is easy to block or sealing surface wear (such as slurry conveying system).
Rubber sealing ring in strong acid / alkali media may be rapid aging, need to customise fluorine rubber and other materials
Installation accuracy requirements are stringent
The level of the valve body should be strictly calibrated, tilted installation of more than 5 ° will lead to the valve valve weight offset, affecting the sealing effect.
Parallelism with the pipeline connection flange should be controlled within 0.2mm, otherwise it is easy to cause leakage.
