What are the advantages and disadvantages of parallel gate valves
Advantages
- Fluid resistance is small: due to the valve body inside the media channel is straight through, the media into a straight line flow, so the flow resistance is small.
- Open and close more energy: compared with the globe valve, the moving direction of the gate is perpendicular to the direction of media flow, making the opening and closing process more energy-saving.
- Height, long opening and closing time: the gate opening and closing stroke is larger, lifting is carried out through the screw, so the height is larger, opening and closing time is longer.
- Water hammer phenomenon is not easy to produce: due to the long closing time, water hammer phenomenon is not easy to produce.
- The medium can flow in any direction to both sides: the two sides of the gate valve channel are symmetrical, so it is convenient for the medium to flow to both sides.
- Short structural length: the structural length of the gate valve is small, good manufacturing process, wide range of applications.
- Compact structure, good rigidity of the valve: the use of stainless steel and hard alloy made of sealing surface, long service life, light and flexible operation.
Disadvantages
- Larger dimensions and opening height: requires larger installation space, especially in the process of opening and closing, the sealing surface relative friction, wear and tear.
- Long opening and closing time: due to the complex structure, the opening and closing time is long.
- The sealing surface is easy to rub: under low pressure working condition, the sealing performance is relatively poor and easy to leak.
- Problems when the installation is not vertical: in the vibration of the pipeline system, if the gate valve is not installed vertically, the gate may be jammed due to uneven force.
- Medium pressure impact: in the medium pressure is low, the sealing force of the metal sealing surface is not enough to achieve satisfactory sealing performance; when the medium pressure is high, frequent opening and closing may lead to excessive wear of the sealing surface.
- The impact of high-speed and high-density media: in cutting off high-speed and high-density media flow, will produce violent vibration, affecting the stability of the valve.
