Ultra-low Temperature Globe Valve
Description
Ultra-low temperature stop valves are specially used for extremely low temperature working conditions with medium temperature ≤-150℃ (some models can reach -196℃). They are suitable for the cutoff and regulation of low temperature fluids such as liquefied natural gas (LNG), liquid oxygen, and liquid nitrogen. They have the characteristics of anti-freezing, resistance to low temperature brittle cracking, and high sealing.
Core structure and design
Material and sealing
Valve body and valve cover: low temperature steel (such as LCB, LC3), stainless steel (304L/316L) or nickel-based alloy (Inconel) are used to ensure that the material maintains toughness at -196℃.
Sealing components: the valve disc and valve seat are welded with cobalt-based alloy or embedded with PTFE/graphite composite materials to achieve dual protection of metal hard sealing and elastic sealing.
Anti-freezing design: the valve seat area is filled with refrigerant or a shock-absorbing cavity is set to reduce the risk of deformation of the sealing surface caused by medium gasification.
Drive and buffer structure
Drive mode: manual (handwheel/bevel gear), pneumatic or electric, valve stem is lengthened to fit the insulation layer installation.
Buffer technology: The upper and lower ends of the valve core are equipped with telescopic buffer sleeves or turbine blades to reduce the instantaneous hydraulic shock of low-temperature media.

Selection and maintenance points
Selection recommendations
Temperature and pressure: LC3 stainless steel valve body is preferred for -196℃ working conditions, and the pressure level must match the PN16~PN40 standard.
Medium characteristics: Carbide sealing surface is required for medium containing particles, and plating or Hastelloy material is used for corrosive medium.
Maintenance specifications
Regularly check the preload of the valve seat spring and the wear of the sealing surface. When it is stopped at low temperature, it needs to be cooled slowly to prevent thermal shock cracks.
The valve cavity needs to be flushed after using the medium containing impurities to avoid the accumulation of particles affecting the sealing performance.
