Forged steel floating ball valve is a valve device manufactured using forging processes, where the ball is not supported by a fixed shaft and relies on medium pressure to push the ball against the downstream valve seat, forming a single-sided seal.

Forged steel floating ball valve is a type of ball valve made of forged steel, featuring a floating sealing structure between the ball and the seat. This valve offers advantages such as simple structure, compact size, low flow resistance, energy-saving efficiency, and reliable sealing. It is widely used in pipeline systems across industries including petroleum, chemical, metallurgy, and power generation.

 

Structural Features

Floating Ball Design
The ball is in a floating state within the valve body, without fixed shaft support. When the valve is closed, the ball is pushed against the outlet seat by the medium pressure, ensuring tight contact between the ball and seat for reliable sealing. This floating structure allows the ball valve to automatically compensate for seat wear, maintaining excellent sealing performance.

Forged Steel Body
The valve body is manufactured using forging technology, which provides higher strength, toughness, and fatigue resistance compared to cast steel bodies. The forging process eliminates internal defects in the metal, enhances material density, and enables the valve body to withstand higher pressures and temperatures.

Seat Sealing
The seat is typically made of elastic materials (e.g., PTFE, nylon) to ensure good sealing and wear resistance. Some imported forged steel floating ball valves also feature a ‌metal hard-sealing structure‌, making them suitable for harsh conditions involving high temperatures, high pressures, and highly corrosive media.

Actuation Mechanism
Common actuation methods include ‌manual, electric, and pneumatic‌ operation. Manual operation is simple and convenient, ideal for small-bore and low-pressure ball valves. Electric and pneumatic actuation enables ‌remote control and automation‌, making them suitable for large-bore, high-pressure, or frequently operated applications.
