Metal Seat Plug Valve Description
Metal-seat plug valves are characterized by their simple structure, rapid switching, low fluid resistance, and quick angular-stroke operation. In emergency situations, they can swiftly connect or shut off pipelines. Compared to gate valves and globe valves, they offer greater flexibility and faster switching speeds.
The valve operates using a perforated plug as the closing member, which rotates with the valve stem to open or close the flow. Small, non-packing plug valves are commonly referred to as "cocks."
The plug is typically conical (though cylindrical designs also exist) and forms a sealing pair with the conical seat in the valve body. This design ensures tight sealing when closed, preventing fluid leakage.
