What is the main disadvantage of the gate valve?
- The sealing surface is easy to damage: there is relative friction between the two sealing surfaces of the gate and the valve seat when opening and closing, which is easy to damage, affecting the service life of the seal and making maintenance more difficult.
- Long opening and closing time and high height: since the gate valve must be fully opened or fully closed when opening and closing, the gate stroke is large, a certain space is required for opening, the outer dimensions are high, and the space required for installation is large.
- Complex structure: gate valves generally have two sealing surfaces, which adds some difficulties to processing, grinding and maintenance. There are more parts, which makes manufacturing and maintenance more difficult, and the cost is higher than that of stop valves.
- General sealing effect: during the closing process, the sealing body is compressed by the door plate to achieve sealing. This sealing method is not suitable for occasions with large vibration, and its sealing effect often directly affects the service life. Therefore, in occasions with high requirements for sealing effect, gate valves are generally not recommended.
- Processing is more complicated than stop valves: the processing of gate valves is more complicated than that of stop valves, which increases the difficulty and cost of processing.
