Vertical Lift Check Valve is a kind of vertical axial movement structure valve based on the improvement of lift check valve, which is specially designed for the optimisation of specific media flow direction and working conditions. Its core structure and application characteristics are as follows:
1. Core structure characteristics
Valve flap movement mode
Valve flap along the vertical centre line of the valve body for linear lifting and lowering movement, through self-weight or spring assisted to achieve sealing opening and closing.
Typical valve forms include conical, spherical or disc, and the sealing surface is covered with rubber, PTFE and other flexible materials.
Valve Body and Mounting Adaptability
The valve body adopts symmetrical flow channel design to reduce fluid resistance, usually flanged or threaded connection3.
Installation direction restriction: according to the requirements of the medium flow direction, generally only allowed to be installed in the horizontal pipeline (special design models can be adapted to vertical pipeline).
2. Principle of function realisation
| Direction of media flow | Flap action | sealing mechanism |
|---|---|---|
| positive flow | Flap action | Open flow channel, pressure loss as low as 0.01-0.03MPa |
| reverse flow | Self-weight of valve flap + rapid fall of spring force → fully closed | Flexible sealing faces with ANSI Class VI leakage rating |
3. Application
High pressure small diameter system
Suitable for pressure range 1.6~42MPa, commonly used in hydraulic oil pipeline, high pressure steam system.
Clean media environment
Suitable for water, oil and other low-impurity fluids, not recommended for particles or high-viscosity media.
Space-constrained scenarios
Compact design (e.g. ball valve) can save installation space.
4. Compare to other check valve types
| Terms | Vertical Lift Check Valve | Swing Check Valves |
|---|---|---|
| Flow resistance characteristics | Linear flow path for lower pressure loss | Curved flow path, higher pressure loss |
| Installation direction | Horizontal piping is predominant | Horizontal/vertical pipework available (orientation required) |
| Seal Reliability | Flexible seal, low leakage | Metal hard seal, vulnerable to impact wear |
