What is a swing check valve?
Swing check valve is a kind of automatic valve, mainly used to prevent the medium backflow, allowing the medium to flow in one direction. It is characterised by a disc-shaped valve flap, rotating around the rotary axis of the valve seat channel for rotary motion. This design makes the valve flap open under the action of fluid pressure, and close by self-weight and the pressure of the backflow fluid when the fluid pressure drops. Swing check valve is suitable for low flow rate and flow infrequent change of large diameter occasions, such as water supply system, oil and gas pipelines. Its main advantages include:
Streamlined passage: the passage in the valve becomes streamlined, with less resistance to flow, suitable for large-diameter pipelines.
Low resistance: compared with lift check valves, swing check valves have lower flow resistance, which helps to save energy.
Strong adaptability: suitable for a variety of flow conditions, but should not be used for pulsating flow.
Swing check valves can be realised in a variety of configurations, including single-valve, double-valve and multi-valve, each type having its own specific application scenarios and advantages. For example, the multi-valve design reduces hydraulic shock through the combination of multiple small-diameter valves and is suitable for large-diameter pipelines. In addition, swing check valves can be equipped with a damping device to reduce the impact of water flow when the valve is closed and protect the piping system.
