How butterfly valves work

Butterfly valve is a kind of valve that opens or closes by rotating the stem, and its operation principle is mainly based on the following points:

 Structural Composition:

Butterfly valve is mainly composed of valve body, live body, valve shaft, bearing, sealing device, operating mechanism and ancillary components.
Butterfly valve flap is disc-shaped, rotating around the shaft inside the valve seat, the size of the rotary angle that is the degree of opening and closing of the valve.

 Working principle:

Butterfly valve according to the rotation of the valve stem at the same time drive the disk plate rotation to open and close.
In the cylindrical channel of the butterfly valve body, the disc-shaped butterfly plate rotates around the axis, when the butterfly plate reaches 90 °, the valve is in the fully open state, which allows the maximum fluid flow through.
The angle of the butterfly plate can be changed to adjust the medium flow, thus controlling the flow.

 Advantages:

Butterfly valves allow rotation of 90° to move from the fully open to the closed position, have low flow resistance, and allow sensitive flow control especially when opening between approximately 15° and 70°.
Butterfly valves have good fluid control characteristics due to their small structural length and overall height, and fast opening and closing speeds.
Sealing is fast and efficient for high precision flow applications.

 Applications:

Butterfly valves are suitable for regulating airflow in large-diameter areas, such as in ventilation systems.
Due to their lightweight and compact construction, butterfly valves are also suitable for piping systems in narrow locations.
