Angle Seat Valves vs. Globe Valves
The basic design of these valves is the same as that of globe valves, but they differ fundamentally in the direction of fluid flow, since in an angle valve the fluid is turned 90°. The resistance to flow in this type of valve is less than in a globe valve, which is replaced by an elbow. In addition to saving installation time, angle valves reduce the number of fittings in the pipework. Angle valves can also be used in applications with pulsating flows, as they are able to handle the sludge effect of such flows.
If a globe valve is installed at a pipeline bend, the angle pattern body offers two benefits. Firstly, an angle pattern design offers much less resistance to flow than a standard pattern design. Second, the angle pattern design reduces the number of pipe joints and eliminates the need for elbows.
