API 602 Forged Gate Valve Description
API 602 forged gate valve is a compact industrial valve that complies with API 602 standard of the American Petroleum Institute. It is manufactured by forging process and is specially used for critical pipeline control of high pressure, high temperature or corrosive media. Its core structure, American standard specifications and characteristics are as follows:
Structural composition
Valve body and connection
Forged valve body: Made of forged steel (such as A105, F22, F91, etc.), the material density and compressive strength are improved by forging process.
Bonnet design:
Bolted bonnet: Bolt nut connection + spiral wound gasket (316 with flexible graphite) seal.
Welded bonnet: Threaded connection + fully welded seal, suitable for high pressure leakage prevention scenarios.
Self-sealing bonnet: Threaded connection + internal pressure self-tightening sealing ring, more reliable sealing under high pressure.
Connection method: flange (ANSI B16.5), socket welding (ANSI B16.11), butt welding (ANSI B16.25) or thread (NPT).
Sealing and opening and closing
Gate structure: single gate or wedge gate, full-bore design to reduce flow resistance.
Valve seat seal: replaceable welded/threaded valve seat, sealing surface welded with hard alloy (such as Stellite) to resist erosion.
Upper seal structure: integral upper seal seat to prevent medium leakage to the stuffing box when the valve is opened.
Valve stem transmission: rising stem bracket type (OS&Y), valve stem lifting and lowering are visible.
Safety and operation
Packing seal: flexible graphite + braided graphite combination, support online replacement.
Operating mechanism: handwheel, bevel gear or electric actuator.
