Forged steel check valves have become the core backflow prevention equipment for high-temperature and high-pressure industrial pipelines due to their high pressure resistance, wide temperature range adaptability and low flow resistance. However, precise grease injection and regular maintenance are required to avoid the risk of sealing failure.

Forged Steel Check Valve Description

 

Forged steel check valve is a valve that drives the opening and closing parts to achieve one-way flow control through the medium's own flow pressure. Its core function is to prevent fluid backflow and is often used in high-temperature and high-pressure industrial pipeline systems.

‌Material and process‌:
The valve body is made of forged steel (such as A105, F304/F316), which has the characteristics of high strength, corrosion resistance and wide temperature resistance range (-29℃~550℃);
The sealing surface is nitrided or clad with hard alloy, with a hardness of ≥HRC58 to ensure the sealing reliability under high-pressure conditions.

‌Bonnet connection method‌:
‌Bolt type‌: The valve body and the bonnet are connected by bolts and nuts, and sealed with a spiral wound gasket (316 with flexible graphite);
‌Welded type‌: Fully welded seal after threaded connection, suitable for scenes with high pressure and high sealing requirements;
‌Pressure self-tightening type‌: Internal pressure self-sealing ring design, the higher the pressure, the more reliable the seal.

Type and working principle ‌
‌Swing check valve‌

The valve disc rotates around the axis through a hinge mechanism. When fully open, the fluid resistance is small (pressure is reduced), which is suitable for large flow conditions‌;
The sealing surface can be designed as all-metal or inlaid with rubber pads, and the applicable media include water, oil and fluids containing particles‌. ‌Lift check valve‌

The valve disc moves vertically along the valve seat. When closed, it relies on its own weight or built-in spring to quickly reset, and the sealing performance is more stringent (leakage level reaches API 598 standard)‌; ‌Typical models such as the ‌Y-type forged steel check valve‌, the flow channel is Y-shaped, and the fluid resistance is only 30%~50% of that of conventional valves, which is suitable for non-corrosive media such as steam and water‌. ‌Socket welding forged steel check valve‌

The socket welding connection is adopted, and the sealing surface contact is uniform, which is suitable for clean media and high pressure difference environment (up to Class 2500)‌.

‌Pressure resistance‌ The highest pressure level reaches Class 2500 (42MPa), suitable for petrochemical ultra-high pressure pipelines Frequent opening and closing of the valve disc can easily cause scratches on the sealing surface, which requires regular grinding and maintenance.
‌Temperature resistance‌ The forged steel material supports a wide temperature range of -29℃~550℃, and is suitable for high-temperature systems of thermal power and nuclear power. High temperature working conditions require heat-resistant alloy valve stems (such as F91) and graphite packing, which are more expensive.
‌Maintenance convenience‌ The removable bonnet design facilitates replacement of seals and supports online maintenance. Grease injection management requires precise control of pressure (10% higher than pipeline pressure) and grease injection amount. Improper operation can easily lead to seal failure.
