Stainless steel wafer swing check valves have a hinged mechanism and a door-like flap that rests freely on the sloping seat surface. In order to ensure that the valve flap reaches the proper position on the seat surface every time, the valve flap is designed in a hinged mechanism so that the valve flap has enough room to rotate and so that the valve flap is in true, full contact with the seat. The flap can be made entirely of metal, or leather, rubber, or synthetic coverings can be inlaid into the metal, depending on the performance requirements. Swing-open check valves are virtually unobstructed by fluid pressure in the fully open condition, so that the pressure drop through the valve is relatively small.
