Rubber Seal Butterfly Valve Description
Rubber-sealed butterfly valve is a soft-sealed butterfly valve with a rubber valve seat (such as EPDM, NBR, PTFE, etc.). The butterfly plate rotates and squeezes the elastic valve seat to achieve bidirectional sealing. It is mainly used for pipeline cutoff and flow regulation of medium and low pressure, normal temperature and corrosive media.
Performance characteristics
Corrosion resistance :
EPDM rubber is resistant to acid, alkali and ozone, NBR has excellent oil resistance, PTFE is suitable for highly corrosive media, and the applicable temperature range is -40℃~120℃.
Low flow resistance and easy operation :
The streamlined butterfly plate design reduces the medium resistance, and the flow resistance coefficient when fully open is only 1/3 of the same caliber gate valve.
Manual worm gear, pneumatic or electric drive mode has low operating torque, suitable for frequent opening and closing scenarios.
Applicable scenarios :
Water treatment : Municipal water supply, sewage pipes (high impurity tolerance) .
Chemical and food and medicine : Corrosive fluids (acids, alkalis) and sanitary pipes (food grade rubber required) .

Selection suggestions:
Media matching: Hard-seal composite structures are required for media containing hard particles. Metal-seal butterfly valves are preferred for high temperature (>120°C) or high pressure (>PN16) scenarios.
Rubber material selection: EPDM has good aging resistance, NBR has strong oil resistance, and PTFE is suitable for highly corrosive media.
Limitations:
Restrictions on temperature and pressure resistance: The long-term use temperature of rubber does not exceed 120°C, and the pressure level is usually PN10~PN16. High temperature and high pressure can easily cause rubber aging or peeling.
Risk of flushing: Long-term positive flushing may wear the rubber sealing surface, and regular maintenance or replacement of the valve seat is required.
