Gear butterfly valve is a valve that controls the rotation of the butterfly plate through a gear transmission mechanism. It has both opening and closing and flow regulation functions and is widely used in working conditions that require high-precision control or high-torque operation. Its core feature is that it uses gear transmission to replace traditional handles or worm gears to improve operational stability and durability, and is suitable for corrosive media, high-temperature environments and long-cycle operation scenarios.
Core structure and components
Valve body
The material is mostly cast iron, cast steel or stainless steel, selected according to the corrosiveness of the medium (such as stainless steel for acid and alkali environments).
Flange or clamp-type connection design is suitable for different pipeline installation requirements.
Butterfly plate and valve stem
The disc-shaped butterfly plate is linked to the gear transmission mechanism through the valve stem, and the surface can be welded with hard alloy (such as cobalt-based alloy) to enhance wear resistance.
The valve stem adopts a through-rod structure to ensure torque transmission stability.
Gear transmission device
Gear set: The input torque is amplified by meshing gears, reducing the manual operation force, and is suitable for large-diameter valves (DN≥300).
Self-locking function: The gear transmission mechanism has a mechanical self-locking feature, which can maintain the position of the butterfly plate when the power is off or the air source is interrupted to prevent malfunction.
Drive mode: Supports manual, electric or pneumatic control. When driven by electric, a reducer is required to achieve precise angle adjustment.
Sealing system
Soft seal: Rubber or PTFE sealing ring, suitable for low-temperature clean media (≤120℃).
Hard seal: Metal multi-layer sealing structure (such as stainless steel + elastic alloy), high temperature resistance up to 425℃, suitable for particles or corrosive media
