The valve stem axis deviates from both the center of the disc and the center of the body, and the axis of the valve seat's rotation is at an angle to the axis of the valve body's channel. This configuration is known as a three-eccentric butterfly valve. The center of rotation of the valve plate (i.e., the valve axis center) is offset by distance A from the valve plate sealing section and by distance B from the center of the valve body. Additionally, the centerline of the valve body sealing surface and the centerline of the valve seat (i.e., the valve body centerline) form an angular offset of β. To address the issues associated with the double-eccentric butterfly valve, the butterfly valve incorporates a third eccentricity. In this design, while the valve stem axis remains eccentric, the conical axis of the butterfly plate's sealing surface is shifted relative to the body's cylindrical axis. Consequently, after the third eccentricity is applied, the sealing section of the butterfly plate is no longer a true circle but an ellipse. This results in an asymmetric sealing surface, with one side angled towards the body centerline and the other side parallel to it.
