Concentric Butterfly Valves

The structural characteristic of a concentric butterfly valve lies in the alignment of the stem axis, disc center, and valve body center at the same position. This design ensures smoother operation while reducing fluid resistance during flow, thereby enhancing control efficiency.

Concentric Butterfly Valves Description

The structural feature of a concentric butterfly valve is that the stem axis, disc center, and valve body center are aligned in the same position. Generally, concentric butterfly valves should be prioritized whenever possible. This is because they impose lower sealing requirements in both structure and operation, making them standard products.

To prevent extrusion, scraping, and ensure sealing performance, the seat of a concentric butterfly valve is typically made of elastic materials such as rubber or PTFE, classifying it as a ‌soft-sealed butterfly valve‌. However, this design limits the valve's temperature resistance in practical applications.

‌Advantages‌

‌Compact Structure‌: Short valve body length allows for large-diameter valves (e.g., DN1000+), ideal for space-constrained or large-pipeline applications.

‌Easy Operation‌: Low opening/closing torque enables quick actuation via electric, pneumatic, or manual methods.

‌Reliable Sealing‌: Soft-seat design delivers excellent sealing performance in low-pressure/ambient-temperature conditions, suitable for leak-sensitive applications.

‌High Flow Capacity‌: Full-bore design minimizes fluid resistance with high flow coefficients.

‌

Disadvantages‌

‌Limited Temperature Resistance‌: Seal materials (rubber, PTFE) typically withstand ≤120°C, restricting high-temperature applications.

‌Low Pressure Rating‌: Nominal pressure generally ≤6.4 MPa, unsuitable for high-pressure systems.

‌Faster Wear‌: Continuous disc-to-seat extrusion/scraping causes sealing surface wear, requiring periodic maintenance or seat replacement.

Characteristics‌

‌Simple and Compact Structure‌:
Concentric butterfly valves consist of a valve body, stem, disc, and sealing ring, offering a simple and compact design. Compared to other valves, they feature smaller size, lighter weight, and easy installation, saving space.

‌Flexible and Convenient Operation‌:
The operating handle allows 360° rotation, ensuring flexible operation. Additionally, the valve enables rapid opening/closing, allowing quick fluid cutoff or flow regulation.

‌Strong Corrosion Resistance‌:
The valve body and disc are made of stainless steel or corrosion-resistant materials, providing excellent resistance to corrosive media, making them suitable for various applications.

‌Superior Sealing Performance‌:
Equipped with elastic sealing rings, the valve ensures reliable sealing with a large contact area between the disc and seat. The replaceable sealing rings further extend the service life.
